Verify a licensed copy

Every issued copy carries one key, printed on its Certificate of Ownership. It tells you which sealed edition the copy is, what number it is, and who holds it.

What this key is, and is not

  • The archive is perpetual and offline. It never phones home, never expires and never checks this key.
  • The key identifies your copy when you use SHPBL's hosted MCP boundary. Using it is the check-in — there is nothing to renew and no button to press.
  • Each key carries a seat count. SHPBL records one check-in row per copy, per day, per host fingerprint, and looks at a rolling 30-day window.
  • Exceeding the seat count is logged, not refused. Enforcement stays in log mode unless a specific copy is switched to enforce, or revoked outright, by a governor.
  • Revocation removes future hosted grants only. Bytes you already hold stay yours; that is what perpetual means.
