SHPBL vs Bito
These are different jobs that get compared because both point an AI at a repository. Bito publishes itself as an AI code review and AI architect product, working per pull request inside your review flow, priced per seat. SHPBL is a repository audit and repair method: it reads the repository as it is, screens catalogued prior art against it, rejects most of it, repairs only what you authorise, and harvests what it learned into a capability library you keep. If your problem is the diff in front of you, that is review. If your problem is that nobody knows what the repository already contains, that is this.
Read from their public pages in August 2026. We do not benchmark Bito and we quote nothing they have not published. Read their own pages before you decide.
Side by side
| What you are comparing | Bito | SHPBL |
|---|---|---|
| The unit of work | A pull request or a diff, reviewed as it arrives. | The whole repository, surveyed before any suggestion is made — files, languages, spine files, risk signals. |
| What you get back | Review comments and suggestions in the code-review surface. | One sealed report: verdict, findings with file and line, a ranked repair order, and every capability the repository already contains with its stated contract. |
| Allowed to say "change nothing" | Not the design goal of a review assistant. | Yes, and it is a normal result. Five of our six published runs did not return a clean buy. |
| Reusable intelligence | Not a published feature of code review. | A licensed run harvests capabilities into your own library, cited and contracted, and reuses them on the next repository. |
| Provenance on anything applied | Not published as a capability record. | Source, parents, licence status and acceptance rule travel with every capability the method proposes to apply. |
| How you reach it | IDE extensions, Git provider integration and a web app, per their site. | MCP server from any chatbot, HTTP API from a script or CI, or the library as files you run offline. Same fourteen tools. |
| Pricing model | Per-seat subscription tiers, per their pricing page. | Free evaluation, $39/mo for execution and retention, or $499 once to own the release as files. |
| Free path | A trial on the paid tiers, per their pricing page. | Permanently free evaluation with no key and no card over MCP or the API. |
| Compliance certifications | They publish SOC 2 Type II. | None. We hold no SOC 2 or ISO certification, and say so on this page rather than after your procurement review. |
| Ownership | Subscription access to a hosted service. | The $499 edition is files under a perpetual licence with no key to check in with and no runtime of ours in your path. |
The verdict, both ways
Choose Bito
Choose Bito if what you want is continuous AI review on incoming pull requests, an IDE assistant, and a vendor with SOC 2 Type II for procurement.
Choose SHPBL
Choose SHPBL if the expensive problem is the repository itself: unknown contents, rediscovered capabilities, generated code without provenance, and reasoning that evaporates when the chat closes.
Questions people actually ask
Is SHPBL a code review tool?
No. SHPBL audits a whole repository and repairs what you authorise. It does not sit on your pull requests commenting on diffs; a licensed run opens a pull request of its own instead.
Does SHPBL have SOC 2?
No. There is no SOC 2 or ISO certification, and we do not claim a date for one. If your procurement requires a certification before evaluation, SHPBL is not a fit yet — the free keyless path exists so you can judge the work without sending us anything.
Can I try SHPBL without a card or an account?
Yes. Over MCP or the HTTP API the evaluation tools are keyless: no card, no sign-up. A free run writes nothing back and retains no reusable library for you. The runner on the home page needs a free account and allows one run every 72 hours.
Does SHPBL write to my repository?
Only when you authorise it. A run reaching the build or composition stage must obtain a signed, expiring, single-use Build Authorization bound to the caller, and the server refuses the write without it. Write-back arrives as a branch and a pull request on a licensed run.
What does SHPBL cost?
Evaluation is free. Practitioner is $39 a month for licensed execution, write-back and retention, with 25,000 tool calls a month. The Complete Master Library is $499 once for a perpetual licence to that release as files.
Judge it on your own repository
The evaluation is keyless over MCP and the HTTP API — no card, no sign-up — so you can settle this comparison with evidence instead of copy.
